Dairy Direct Payment Program

The Government of Canada is committed to providing full and fair compensation for dairy farmers as a result of market access commitments made under recent international trade agreements.

Consequently, the Government developed measures to compensate supply managed dairy farmers through the Dairy Direct Payment Program (DDPP). This approach, developed in consultation with producer representatives, will help dairy producers transition to new market realities by reducing the impact of concessions relative to access to the Canadian dairy market. Payments will be based on quota each producer held on August 31, 2025.
